Growing wisdom. Changing People.

Led by Lord Rowan Williams with His Holiness the Dalai Lama, the two-day conference ‘Growing wisdom. Changing People’ brought together 150 young people, prominent thought leaders, social entrepreneurs and academics. The conference was framed around seven topics of Resources, Environment, Education, Health, Freedom, Technology and Conflict Resolution. Attendees engaged in free and open conversations and were challenged not only to discuss important issues facing society today but also to come up with meaningful action driven solutions.

Co-facilitating the breakout sessions, my aim was to make people feel comfortable and secure so they could dialogue openly around the themes, enabling participants to take risks in communicating and exploring while offering containment and safety. This added a reflexive quality linking the experience of the participants with the ideas being discussed and contemplated in depth.

With an emphasis on raising questions arising from current knowledge and understanding, the event provided a space where young people, leading thinkers and practitioners were together able to engage in genuine dialogue. They were challenged not only to discuss important issues facing society today, but to also come up with meaningful action driven solutions.
